I think this new year I will be calling out fearmongering and half-ass written articles that give more stated opinion than actual facts. Case in point….
Mad World News has a headline “House Dems Moved To Implement First Sharia Law While You Weren’t Looking”
In the article, a lot of opinions are thrown around while the author pushes the reader to give up common sense while reading between the lines.
If you do a Google search you will see other fear mongering posts catering to those that rely on hate and fear to justify their actions. The only one that gave more facts and quotes from representatives on this bill was a Washington Post article
The bill, H.Res.569 – Condemning violence, bigotry, and hateful rhetoric towards Muslims in the United States
https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-resolution/569/text seems to represent the exact rhetoric mentioned in the MWN article yet no where in the bill does it imply implementing sharia law, yet these articles want you to think otherwise by twisting things around and spewing it out as more hate and fear.
Now, Im not condoning the acts of those that have flown under the umbrella of Islam that have terrorized the world. They twist their beliefs just as much as Westboro or the KKK has done under the banner of Christianity. I do condemn these acts just as much as I do with all this hate speech and the fearmongering certain people put out there.
Yet, there will be those of you who will see my words as lies, anti-American or anti-Christian and try and proselytize my view to your own. Im not trying to do that to you but what I am trying to do is show the arrogance of turning words, sentences, articles, and even congressional bills into opinionated truths. Its like me hearing someone yell, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling” and coming to the innate conclusion that we are under attack from an alien life force that is here to suck our lifeforce.
Come on…its 2016…can common sense and critical thinking be at the forefront of analytical reasoning!?
